About This Event

Leveraging Science for People-Centered Design is a dynamic six-session series that shows architects how insights from the sciences of people can transform design thinking and practice, with a strong focus on health, safety and welfare (HSW).
Building on the pioneering work of the presenter Milton Shinberg, AIA architect, educator, and principal emeritus of Shinberg Levinas Architects, this series brings together human factors, neuroscience, psychology, and aesthetics to illuminate how people actually experience the built environment.
Each session translates rapidly expanding knowledge and research into clear, actionable strategies, refined through decades of teaching and professional practice. From emotion and beauty to perception and process, the series equips architects with practical tools to design environments that are not only functional and beautiful but also intentionally supportive of human well-being. The series will also highlight ways of tapping the insights and wisdom of non-architects.
